Mura Mura Piemonte Bianca Tasting Notes
Piedmont DOC White
Annurca apple, thyme, elderflower.
Bianca is a Piemonte Bianco DOC, made with approximately 85% Favorita grapes and 15% Malvasia Moscata di Candia ā two historic Piedmontese varieties, the first more fruity, the second more floral.
The name āBiancaā is inspired by another Shakespearean play (like all Mura Mura wines from the Monferrato area, except single-cru vineyards), āOthelloā.
The vineyard is located in Costigliole d’Asti, facing west and southwest, covering an area of 0.8 hectares at an altitude of 165 meters above sea level.
The soil is clayey with a slight limestone content.
“The vineyard is managed according to SQNPI agricultural guidelines, trained using the Guyot system, with a density of 5,000 vines per hectare and a yield of only 45 hl/ha.
“Vinification follows the Burgundy approach with lees stirring, taking place both in 500-liter French oak tonneaux (25%) and 400-liter ceramic amphorae (75%); fermentation occurs at a temperature of 18°C.
Aging takes place over 14ā16 months in the same 500-liter French oak barrels and 400-liter ceramic amphorae.
Finally, Bianca completes 3 months of resting in the bottle, ready to stand alongside the worldās finest Viognier wines.
